Downtown Morgantown Shop Hop
(submitted by Sally Kirkpatrick)

Our July Special Activity, “Downtown Morgantown Shop Hop” was a big success. We had seven women attend and meet at the Old Stone House to start shopping around 9:30am.  A few of the shops changed their opening time from 10:00am to 11:00am during COVID and will probably keep those hours, so check operating hours of shops if you are heading downtown.  We purchased merchandise at almost all of the 13 shops we visited.  We found lots of good items, so don’t be afraid to head downtown and support our local shop owners.  Von Blaze, the new restaurant where we ate lunch, was delicious!!!  I plan to get back there very soon to try a few more menu items.  My lobster dog was delicious.  Our Newcomers ladies contributed to the downtown economy roughly in the amount  of $700.00.  This was a great idea, so we will try it again at other areas around Morgantown and nearby communities.

Please let me know if you have any other ideas for Special Activities.  Thank you.

ANNUAL MORGANTOWN NEWCOMERS CLUB PICNIC

Each year we gather together with our families at Cooper’s Rock State Forest Park to kick off another year of Club activities and get to know our new members. Please mark your calendars:

SUNDAY, September 18, from 1-4 PM. We have Shelter 1 (handicap accessible) reserved. Each member will be asked to bring a food donation to make this Pot Luck Picnic extra special. There is no cost, just come and enjoy the day with us. Family members are welcome! Sally Kirkpatrick, Special Activities Director is our contact person for this event.

Thank you to those who renewed their membership! Dues are $30 cash, check payable to Morgantown Newcomers Club or Paypal on the website. The fiscal year begins on July 1 and dues are collected by July 31. Our current paying members will be added to our Directory and will receive all Club information and have access to our website.

Volunteer Opportunities

There are always opportunities to help out within the Club. We offer positions on the Board, committee work, interest group chairpersons, and are still in need of FUNDRAISING ideas and volunteers to chair an Auction. Please contact the President, Denise Berrebi, or any other member if you have questions or ideas.

Our Community Service Project for Fall
(submitted by Karen Lane, Community Service Director)

As I mentioned at the September coffee, it came as a shock to me to find out that there are many girls in our county who miss school because they cannot afford to buy feminine products every month.  I’d love to see us help Pantry Plus More stock their shelves and the shelves of the “In-school” pantries with feminine products for our sweet ladies who need access to them.  For those not familiar with what they do, here is their website: Pantry Plus More

Our ladies can buy feminine products, both pads and tampons.  They can bring them to the coffee and or luncheon in October or bring/ship to my house:

And at the end of October I can deliver them to Pantry Plus More!
